“Blackberry Pisco Smash”

“Blackberry pisco smash” Recipe

The “Smash” has been around since the 1800s. It is a type of julep, a concoction of spirits, sugar, mint, but the muddled fruit makes it a real smash. These cocktails are fruity, bright, summery, refreshing. We have substituted the blackberries in this recipe for Akaka Falls Farm’s Blackberry Irish Whisky Preserve, and we have added some St. Germaine for an essence of elderflower. Perfect for a hot sunny day.

For this cocktail you will need:

3 ounces of Pisco (we used Barsol Pisco because of its flavor profile
of black fruits, pepper, and vanilla)
1 tablespoon Akaka Falls Farm’s Blackberry Irish Whisky Preserve
6 mint leaves (two for garnish)
1/2 ounce lemon juice
1/4 ounce st Germaine
2 ounces ginger beer to top the drink with
1/2 cup ice
Step 1. Add the Blackberry Preserve, 4 of the mint leaves, and the lemon juice to a shaker and muddle them all together.
Step 2. Add the Pisco, St. Germaine, and ice to the shaker with the mash you have made and shake until well mixed.
Step 3. Put fresh ice in a cup of your choosing and strain the cocktail over this fresh ice.
Step 4. Top the cocktail with the ginger beer and add fresh mint leaves to garnish.
Enjoy 🙂
